Mrs. Deana Bray

Principal

Welcome to Danielsville Elementary! My name is Deana Bray, and I am so proud of our school.  This is my 28th year in education. I taught for 16 years and spent most of those years in 5th grade.I was an instructional coach for 3 years and an assistant principal for 5 years.  I consider it an honor to have been in Madison County Schools for my entire career. Not only have I taught and worked in Madison County for 28 years, I am also a proud 1990 graduate of Madison County High School. My degrees include a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Education from the University of Georgia in addition to a Specialist's degree from Piedmont College. I also earned my leadership certification through the Rising Stars program in conjunction with the University of North Georgia and Northeast Georgia RESA. I have been a life-long learner and hope to be an example to students and teachers that we should never stop learning.

I have been happily married to J.Ben Bray for the past 23 years, and I am the mother of two boys, Ben and Jonah. Both are students at the University of Georgia. Ben is a junior and Jonah is a freshman.  Both are former DES Colts.

It is my privilege to play a small part in leading the wonderful students and teachers of Danielsville Elementary. I look forward to working with everyone who is part of our school community.

Mrs. Breanne Smith

Assistant Principal

My name is Breanne Smith and I am so excited to be in my 3rd year as an Assistant Principal at Danielsville Elementary School.  I am starting my 16th year in education, and have taught both General Education and Special Education.  It is my heart’s desire to provide a learning environment where students and staff feel safe and strive to be the best they can be each day. Danielsville Elementary School is a special place to be where students and teachers work hard each and every day to one day graduate independent and productive citizens.

I graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s of Art in Science and majored in Child and Family Development.  I returned to pursue my Master’s of Art in Teaching in 2008, Specialist Degree in Special Education with an emphasis on Behavior Analysis  in 2015, and Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership in 2022.  I am completing my Action Research project this school year focusing on family engagement in a rural elementary school.  In May of 2025, I will graduate from the Docotral Program at the University of Georgia.

I have been married to my husband, Knox, for 13 years.  Knox is a Battalion Chief and serves the Hall County Fire department.  He has worked for the fire department for over 20 years.  We have three beautiful daughters: Presleigh (11), Piper (7), Palmer Cait (5).  We love spending time at the lake with our family and doing things outdoors.  We are so thankful to be a part of the DES family!
